About & method

One honest answer per device

Lastware answers a single question authoritatively: is your device still getting security and OS updates — and when does support end? No clutter, no guesswork, every date sourced.

How we verify

Every device page carries the source a date comes from and the day we last checked it. Chromebook cutoffs come straight from Google’s Auto-Update-Expiration policy; phone windows are built from manufacturer commitments and reconciled against public trackers. When a maker hasn’t announced an end date, we say so plainly rather than guess.

Independent & neutral

Lastware is not affiliated with Google, Apple, Samsung, or any other manufacturer. We don’t take payment to rank one brand above another. When we point you toward a longer-lasting device, it’s because the support dates say so — nothing else.

Data & sources

Phone data is built on endoflife.date, shared under CC BY-SA 4.0; our additions are shared back under the same licence. Chromebook data comes from Google’s Auto Update policy. Spot something wrong? Tell us — corrections make the reference better.

How it’s built

Lastware is a static site generated with Astro: one page per device, built from a single dataset, with the citable facts in real markup and JSON-LD so search engines and AI assistants can quote them correctly. Content pages ship almost no JavaScript — the device search is the only interactive island — which keeps pages fast, the whole point of an SEO-first reference.
